Established in 2004 and reorganized in 2006, The National Institute for Enterprise Development [NIED] is a non-profit organization incorporated under the laws of the District of Columbia.  After successfully raising the bar for technical assistance services offered  to Small and Medium-size Enterprises [SMEs] in Greater Washington, NIED's organizers decided to take their expertise to the national level and broaden NIED's initiatives to include both business and technology services to the SMEs around the country.  NIED works to enhance the capacity of SMEs by providing technical assistance providers with innovative IT  solutions, enterprise development expertise, growth strategies and educational tools.  NIED focuses on tailoring solutions particularly relevant to enterprises owned by American minority groups including but not limited to African, Asian and Hispanic Americans and women.
